SCHAKO extends the installation situations for its fire damper BSK-RPR

Easier, faster and more reliable to fit, more options for installation, and a wider range of sizes. Those are the results of SCHAKO's ongoing development work on its BSK-RPR fire damper – for enhanced safety whenever fire breaks out and always in compliance with harmonised European standards such as, for instance, the testing standard DIN EN 1366-2.

Installation with flexible ceiling joint in metal stud walls

So that our versatile round BSK-RPR fire damper can be used more often, SCHAKO has increased the damper's diameter to as much as d=500 mm. This step enables you to opt for a known, tried-and-tested product with no extra planning outlay. And that's not all: for the BSK-RPR-S version with mounting frame, SCHAKO has successfully tested and submitted an approval application for the installation situation "With flexible ceiling joint in metal stud walls as per DIN 4102-4 table 48". As a result, this fire damper is especially attractive for space-saving installation close to ceilings. Moreover, this product simplifies coordination on the construction site because the wall recess can be fully prepared ahead of time – and then the BSK-RPR-S with its mounting frame can be fitted with no problems at all. This approach provides crystal-clear interfaces for the individual equipment systems, reducing problems in this area to the minimum – so you save time and money. And what's more, you ensure added safety.

Installation in F30 metal stud walls and Knauf W628 shaft walls

We have also submitted approval applications for additional installation situations: for the BSK-RPR-S damper with/without mounting frame in F30 metal stud walls as per DIN 4102-4 table 48, and for the BSK-RPR-S with mounting frame for installation in Knauf W628 shaft walls. These applications complement the installation situations already authorised as per approval Z-41.3-681:

In solid walls/ceilings
In solid walls/ceilings with mounting frame to make installation faster, easier and more reliable
In lightweight walls to DIN 4102-4 table 48 (or as per valid general appraisal certificate) with/without mounting frame
In Knauf W628 shaft walls (or as per valid general appraisal certificate) with/without Promat mounting frame

Versions of the BSK-RPR fire damper also allow its use in areas with explosion risks, both on a mechanical basis and with spring return actuators as per the ATEX Directive (94/9/EC).
