Dear Sir and Madam,
in case of fire, fire-resistant dampers designed for special applications (overflow dampers) close openings in fire-resistant inner walls or ceilings that are necessary for air circulation.
The responsible building supervisory board decides whether the opening is admissible, e.g. as a deviation or in conjunction with the approval of the fire protection concept. The required dampers are fire-resistant and equipped with a corresponding smoke trigger device that closes in case of fire and thereby prevents fire and smoke from escaping through the opening. Dampers of this type may not be connected to the ventilation ducts in an air conditioning system of any building.
SCHAKO was the first manufacturer to implement the newly worded requirements and with the BKA-Ü overflow damper has designed the first fire-resistant damper of this type that has the general building supervisory board approval of the DIBt, Berlin.
This enables engineering offices and plant manufacturers to reliably plan and carry out their work, which really pays off.
The main components are the BKA-EN shut-off dampers with spring return mechanism and the RMS-L smoke warning system: tried and tested safety components in the field of fire protection technology designed by SCHAKO. The use of the RMS-L smoke warning system closely aligned with the duct means no minimum flow speed is necessary because it does not have a ventilated measurement chamber within the duct cross-section. It is thus not prone to collect dirt, which reduces the cost of maintenance.
SCHAKO BKA-Ü is a further component in the construction of safe, properly designed buildings that conform to the MBO model building code.
Best regards,

ppa. Dr. Marcus Müller
