Fields of application:
Fire-resistant dampers in special design and for special applications are used if, in the framework of ventilation systems, openings in the fire-resistant inner walls or ceilings are necessary for the air flow. These openings must be closed in case of fire by fire dampers.
The building supervisory board decides whether the opening is admissible, for example as an individual approval or in conjunction with the approval of the fire protection concept.
The required dampers are fire-resistant fire dampers equipped with a respective smoke release device, which are closed in case of fire. The propagation of fire and smoke through the opening is therefore prevented. Dampers of this type must not be connected to ventilation ducts in an air conditioning installation of a building.
